Position Summary: The Money Services team is looking for a Director, Software Engineering. As the leader in this role, you will own the Money Services capabilities that enable Walmart's in-store money center business. These services include the ability for customers to do check cashing, money transfers at Walmart stores, produce business insights, and deploy systems to launch software into money center terminals at thousands of Walmart stores worldwide.
This Director will manage software in a variety of product lifecycle stages, from freshly launched within the past year to battle-hardened with 20+ years of legacy. This leader will be responsible for driving the technical vision for these products and own the strategy for platform level services to ensure the success of the world's largest and best retail operation.
About Team: Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you'll do: Executes engineering projects by developing resource planning for business roadmap in advance; removing barriers to success; ensuring others have the information, training, resources, and implementation time needed to succeed. Reduces customer impact due to applications systems issues by ensuring high quality using quality standards; measuring sales loss and performing root cause analysis. Drives continuous process improvement and innovation by identifying inefficiencies in current processes; improving agility of the team; and adopting industry trends for innovation. Ensures product quality by developing and executing quality assurance plans; using data and experience to determine customer needs. What you'll bring: Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce. Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals. Minimum Qualifications: Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 8 years' experience in software engineering or related area. 3 years' supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Knowledge of accessibility best practices and familiarity with implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
