SALARY RANGE:$68,905.20-$100,005

LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, headquartered in downtown San Francisco, is looking for a full-time Early Childhood Blind and Low Vision Specialist to service the San Francisco Bay Area community.
The Early Childhood Blind and Low Vision Specialist reports to the LightHouse Little Learners Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree
Strongly Preferred: Masters/Credential in Visual Impairments, Orientation and Mobility, Early Childhood/Special Education, Physical or Occupational Therapy, or Social WorkMinimum three years' experience working with infants and preschoolers who are blind or have low vision, or whose developmental delays include blindness or low vision; or who are deafblindMinimum three years' experience providing home visits to familiesWork in multi-cultural teaching circumstancesTrained in Lilli Nielsen philosophy of Active LearningExperience with early childhood Assistive Technology and AACREQUIRED SKILLS: Strong written and spoken communication skillsKnowledge of the strategies and techniques used to support blind childrenEffective interpersonal skills with children and adultsJoyful, positive working style with childrenStrong organization and time management skillsTakes initiative and can work independentlyCreative and collaborative problem solverFlexible schedule and demeanorPositive attitude and strong work ethicAbility to relate to and show compassion toward familiesJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The Early Childhood Blind and Low Vision Specialist in this role will provide services in the following areas: Family Services:Provide parent/caregiver education and family-centered coaching services for families of young children (birth to three years of age) who are blind or have low visionProvide information and resources to families related to their child's blindness or low visionConduct parent interviews and administer developmental and functional vision assessmentsEncourage parent/caregiver and child interactions through adapted play and routines-based activitiesSupport the relationship between the parent/caregiver and child utilizing infant and family mental health principlesCoach families in child-advocacy skillsCommunity Collaboration and Outreach:Consult and build professional relationships with community representativesPartner with the child's site-based early intervention programProvide information, resources, and referrals to familiesAssist in providing workshops and trainings on early childhood blindness and low visionCase Management:Maintain and organize secure client case filesCommunicate with community partners in the provision of servicesPrepare and submit Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcome reportsMaintain accurate client billing recordsComply with HIPAA and FERPA requirementsOrganizational Support:Establish and maintain a safe home office environmentAssist with confidential data gatheringParticipate in scheduled All-Staff and LightHouse Little Learners Program Staff MeetingsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Commitment to following COVID-19 protocolsAble to lift boxes and materials up to 30 poundsAble to work in various circumstances and locationsWORKING CONDITIONS: Typical work hours: 9 AM-5PM, 5 days per week per FTE
