Eatonville - Substitute Assistant Pool Manager

Most Saturdays 1:30-6:00PM
Tues/Thurs 2:45-8:15PM

Purpose Statement:

The job of "Pool Assistant" is done for the purpose/s of helping develop participants' swimming and water safety skills and abilities through supporting District approved programs, and providing a safe and optimal swimming environment along with a positive work environment.


Essential Functions: Assesses participants' physical and perceptual motor needs for the purpose of developing baseline information for placement.
Checks health and safety of pool facility and notifies the pool manager of care needed.
Collects fees for pool use and completes appropriate reports as needed.
Directs instructional volunteers and/or student assistants for the purpose of providing an effective swim program and addressing the needs of individual swimmers and community participants.
Informs parents and/or legal guardians of participant progress in the swimming lessons.
Instructs participants, student assistants, and parents for the purpose of assisting participants to maximize their swimming and water safety performance and providing knowledge to maintain targeted functional level.
Supervise student lifeguards, shift changes, swim instruction, and daily pool maintenance tasks.
Other Functions: Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Provides minor cleaning work in pool area between scheduled swim activities.
Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods on the pool deck.

Mental Demands: Working conditions with exposure to numerous distractions and interruptions.
Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
Requires concentration and attention to detail for repetitive tasks; may deal with distraught or difficult individuals.

Physical Demands: Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, balancing, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation/ field of vision.
Must be able to push/pull up to 25 pounds and lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Examples of lifting/carrying is assisting disabled students; balancing/stooping /crouching is demonstrating motor skill activities; reaching/handling is game activities; talking is instructing activity; seeing is watching students engage in game activity.

• First Aid Certified
• W.S.I.
Lifeguard Training
• CPR Training

Education/Experience:
• Prior job related experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Work in the pool, demonstrate swimming skills/activities, supervise large numbers of students swimming for extended periods, perform various specialized tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel.
