Job Purpose:
The Electrical Engineer will utilize modern computer-based tools and laboratory instrumentation in the design and development of electronic circuitry and systems.
May also utilize software and mechanical design skills to a lesser degree in the creation of above systems.
Works with a significant amount of independence, mentors and leads multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, while taking direction from Engineering Management.
May carry all or most of the following duties and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Researches, plans, designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic and electrical systems, utilizing sound engineering practices and with the aid of OrCad schematic capture, PC Board layout or equivalent software. Utilizes advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures. Provides engineering consultation to other technical groups.
Conducts and supports subsystem and system integration and verification activities, manufacturing and test planning, and failure analysis. Lead RTCA/DO-160 Environmental Qualification Testing. Generation of peripheral documentation, as required, to support the design and verification of completed design in accordance with the Department's Engineering Manual.
Utilize high level (VHDL) logic development language to implement necessary functionality within FPGA based designs. Leads corrective action, troubleshooting and analysis for product performance and End of life components.
Recommends design approaches for new or improved products and processes. Specification and design of test equipment to be used in the production environment as part of the manufacturing process. Aid in the generation of software, both embedded and application, which is necessary to the proper operation and test of developed products. Evaluates vendor capabilities, technologies, services and ability to deliver required products or services.
Coordinates with outsourced vendors to accomplish contract terms and execution of products or services required. Ensures technical and project outcomes are consistent with established engineering and management principles and practices.
Ensures customer and company technical, system, performance, cost, schedule and quality requirements are met.
Manages engineering design, development, analysis, test, and product assurance projects of moderate size and significant technical complexity to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.
Manages specific technology initiatives May travel, as required, to accommodate above duties.
Requirements: 3 years PC Board schematic and layout 2 years RTCA/DO-160 or equivalent Environmental Qualification Testing 1 year leadership role (including directly managing schedules and resources) Expert knowledge of FPGA designs (i.e.
VHDL or Verilog) Demonstrates leadership skills including initiative, abstract conceptualizing, perseverance and the ability to provide direction despite uncertain conditions.
Independently determines and develops proactive approaches to solutions including the use of innovative approaches and new technology. Demonstrates proficiency in problem solving Multitasks and manages own projects Demonstrates creativity necessary to ensure success Uses advanced techniques to identify and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with others and as part of a team Recommended: Some exposure Altera based products and development tools. Some exposure to IP based data networks including 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless technologies.
