This is a full-time on-site role for an experienced Electronics Technician at Invocon, Inc. located in Spring, TX.
The Electronics Technician will be responsible for performing various electronic assembly, testing, and troubleshooting tasks.
They will also collaborate with a team of engineers to support wireless sensor and instrumentation projects.
The Electronics Technician will perform routine technical functions related to the support of manufacturing activities such as fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and Electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment.
Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems.
Technician will work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, inspection, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental tasks.
Technician will also perform routine operational tests and fault isolation on developmental systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications, as well as diagnose and isolate malfunctions down to component level.
The Electronics Technician may be tasked to conduct defined tests, collect data as assigned, and utilize routine developmental or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
Additional duties include but are not limited to: Soldering/rework SMT capability to J-STD-001 and inspection to IPC-A-610 required. Manufacturing of cable harnesses including but not limited to crimp-and-poke, soldering, and potting. Manufacturing of electronics sub-assemblies including lithium-ion batteries, vehicle computers, actuators, data acquisition systems, and printed wiring assemblies (PWAS) Lay out and assemble units for production electronic equipment according to designs and specifications. Troubleshoot printed wiring assemblies (PWA) to the component level and perform full range of electronic testing tasks. Use hand and small power tools, and various electronic and mechanical measuring and testing devices in performing job duties. Consult with engineering on the drafting of task performance statements (TPSs). Execute TPSs and other required documentation for product assembly and/or test. Extended travel (multiple weeks per occurrence) to customer locations to support installations and test operations as needed (requirement varies to 0% to 8% of the time). Job duties will include developing and setting up work areas to assemble and test assemblies and subassemblies.
Additional duties may include setting up experiments using electronic and optical test equipment, conducting tests, and recording data.
The position may involve assembly and alignment of mechanical and/or opto-mechanical subassemblies, machining/fabricating parts.
The Electronics Technician must be able to accurately develop and document these and other work processes.
Requirements REQUIRED Qualifications: Associates' Degree related to field of work. Certification to IPC and/or NASA-8739 standards is a plus.
The ability to produce work meeting these standards is required. ASEE or equivalent technical school diploma or military certification and experience. At least 5+ years CURRENT experience in industry or military as electronics technician and assembler. Previous work in mission-critical manufacturing environment (aerospace, military, energy, medical devices). Thorough knowledge of a specialized field such as electronics involves skills knowledge plus the application of basic theory. SMT soldering skills and the ability to work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications required. Hands-on work with cable harnesses and final assembly of components into a product. Responsibility for maintaining high performance tools and a well-organized workshop. PCBA rework of through-hole and surface mount components. Hands-on experience with Li-on battery package assemblies is desirable.
