What you'll do Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
Design and develop advanced thermal management systems for all of Scout's rugged off-road electric vehicles with responsibility for thermal management of HV battery, drive-system, power electronics, charging and HVAC. Conduct detailed thermal analysis using computational tools, simulations, and physical testing to validate system performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers, to integrate thermal systems into vehicle platforms. Define and implement thermal validation testing procedures and protocols, including environmental chambers, wind tunnels, and on-road testing. Evaluate and select appropriate materials, components, and suppliers for thermal systems, considering cost, mass, quality, and performance criteria. Support prototype builds, development, and validation activities, including troubleshooting and providing technical guidance to technicians and test engineers. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in automotive thermal systems to drive continuous improvement and innovation. Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based at our office in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, or a related field. (Master's or Ph.D. preferred). First-principles physics understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and electrical fundamentals. 4+ years of experience in thermal systems engineering, preferably in the automotive industry. Experience releasing and launching automotive products into volume production is preferred. Proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent, COMSOL) and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA). Strong knowledge of automotive thermal management principles, including heat exchangers and fluid dynamics. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Ability to be self-sufficient with minimal direction to meet customer deliverables. Strong interpersonal skills to interface with colleagues and suppliers around the world Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive thermal systems (e.g., SAE, ISO) is a plus. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range: $120,000 - $135,000
