Apply Now!In this position you will serve as an engineering technician utilizing computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and geographic information system (GIS) to develop and manage project as-builts, facility records, geospatial data and maps. Provides CADD and GIS training to installation Engineering Technicians, 3E5X1.
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's)
• Comprehensive knowledge of symbols, terminology, and accepted standards (e.g., National CAD, A/E/C Cat Standard, BIM) and used in engineering drawings; and the equipment, facilities, and systems of civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering disciplines using Autodesk AutoCad (CADD software to accomplish usually difficult design and drafting assignments.
• Comprehensive knowledge and ability in geospatial concepts, theories, principles, (e. g., Geography, cartography, geometry, geodesy, photogrammetry, remote sensing, etc.) and standards (e. g., FGDC, SDSFIE, ISO) and their applications to geospatial practices, operations, and analysis using ESRI ArcGIS software to manage a military installation, bombing ranges and airspace.
• Non-professional knowledge of civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering concepts, principles, and practices, a familiarity with architecture, and comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices, techniques, terminology, symbols, materials, cost estimating, mathematical and engineering computations, codes, and contracting regulations and procedures that apply to facility, pavement and utility system, maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction projects.
• Knowledge and skill in surveying methods, equipment, and techniques in the measurement or determination of distances, elevations, areas, angles, land boundaries, and other features of the earth's surface.
• Knowledge and ability to effectively manage construction and technical projects that include goal setting, planning, problem solving, effective communication, motivating, integration, scope setting, scheduling, cost estimating, quality control, procurement methods, risk management, political sensitivity, stakeholder management and leading complex interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally (one-on-one and in front of audiences), digitally, and in writing; maintain good working relations; provide thorough and accurate information to co-workers, customers, coordinating organizations and contractors.
• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft to perform Temporary Duty.
• The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, an/or holidays. May be subject to on-call or recall during contingencies or emergencies.
• The employee is required to possess a valid driver's license to travel between office, job sites, and other activities in performance of assigned duties.
• Position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertions such as climbing tall ladders, walking in steep, rocky mountainous terrain with treacherous footing, regular visits to construction and outdoor sites, standing for long periods, and lifting objects weighting 50 lbs. or more under extreme outdoor weather conditions.
DUTIES:
• Independently plans the methods to portray and prepares original and complex engineering designs for major contractual projects utilizing a comprehensive, practical knowledge of technical engineering design, geometric principles and computer design and drafting (CADD) software.
• Develops, reviews, analyzes, studies, implements, produces, recommends and disseminates geospatial data to support real-time presentation of geospatial data in geographic information system (GIS) and hardcopy map production for a wide range of technical projects utilizing knowledge of engineering, geography, cartography, drafting, surveying, and software programming.
• Mange a wide range of unusually difficult and complex, multi-discipline construction projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities.
• Plans, leads surveys, and validates precision surveys for design, construction control and as-built documentation using GPS and traditional techniques.
• Provides customer assistance, training, material resources, documentation support and information security support.
