Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for Environmental projects and programs at assigned site.
Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirementsEvaluates and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for risk reductionCollaborates in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulationsReviews and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communicationsEvaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentMaintains basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulationsMaintains knowledge of site environmental policies and proceduresMay provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and TechniciansMay serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation)Leads or participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management SystemCoordinates the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirementsTracks and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directedPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum:
Environmental Scientist II:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor's degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, ORMaster's degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.OR
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, ORMaster's degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.Applies to both positions above:Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)Preferred:
•Basic familiarity with water management at an industrial facility.
•Basic knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, incident investigating and reporting protocols.
•General knowledge of state and federal environmental programs such as: APP, Clean Water Act, (MSGP), Safe Drinking Water Act, SPCC, EPCRA, and RCRA.
•Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
•Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
•Basic knowledge/experience with GIS.
•Bachelor's degree in appropriate Engineering discipline (such as Environmental engineering/science, geology, hydrogeology, natural resource sciences or related area) or equivalent education and experience.
What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$82,000-$113,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
