The Role As a Gastroenterologist at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, you will be expected to perform various gastrointestinal procedures in the day procedure unit and potentially other appropriate settings. Your responsibilities will also include taking rotational call on nights and weekends for inpatients, ensuring that our veterans receive continuous care.
In addition to clinical duties, you will be involved in administrative tasks, teaching, and committee assignments as delegated by the Chief of Gastroenterology. You will have the unique opportunity to mentor Internal Medicine residents and Gastroenterology Fellows in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Providing timely and constructive feedback on their performance will be a crucial part of your role while helping to advance the future of gastroenterology.

Minimum Requirements United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
