The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location.
The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description:
Our Environmental Casualty Underwriters are responsible for developing and growing our General Liability/Pollution, XS, and Auto lines of coverage.
They are expected to maintain a profitable, diversified book of business through effective underwriting decision-making, mutually beneficial agent/broker relationships, and application of underwriting tools, systems, and expert resources under limited supervision.
As an Environmental Casualty Underwriting Specialist, you will also have the opportunity to guide/mentor less experienced underwriters in their respective area of expertise, including regular employee coaching with feedback to the manager on the progress of the employee.
Responsibilities:
Underwrites Liberty Mutual's Environmental Casualty products including risk evaluation, structuring of policy terms and conditions, and pricing of insurance programs in accordance with company guidelines.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with target retail brokers to generate a strong flow of business opportunities and renewal retentions.
Provides a high level of customer service through timely response to broker requests and deadlines and meets service standards regarding policy and endorsement issuance.
Develops internal relationships with other company divisions to drive cross-marketing efforts.
Maintains well-documented files.
Qualifications:
Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
A minimum of 7 years expected, typically 10 years or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related business experience.
Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.
Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues.
Existing strong relationships with the brokerage community.
Excels in time and task management.
Must be positive, self-motivated, possess strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; be well organized and have strong negotiation skills.
