About the role Eligible for Signing Bonus About the Role: As the Reworld Honolulu Safety Coordinator, you will perform a varying range of responsibilities to minimize the risk of job-related accidents. The role will support a diverse assortment of safety projects, ensure best practices are implemented, affirm safety compliance requirements are met, and maintain the creation of a healthy and safe workplace. This position reports to the Safety Manager and is located fully on site in Kapolei at the HPower Plant. Position Responsibilities: Provide an active leadership role in management of the facility's safety and health programs; and motivate, educate, and enforce Covanta's safety and health policies. Conduct safety observations, audits, and reports, and follow up on outstanding matters. Perform facility walkdowns on a routine basis, identify deficiencies, and assign corrective actions to area owners. Correct unsafe behavior/conditions and use stop work authority as needed. Educate employees on safety standards and expectations, including safe machine and equipment operations, and assist with the administration of on-site certification for various mobile equipment. Perform safety training for new hires, conduct contractor safety briefings, and maintain and coordinate external vendor training for the facility's Quick Response and Confined Space team. Lead the sites Quick Response and Confined Space Rescue Team. Manage contractor safety and health performance with facility management; ensure contractors are properly trained, use appropriate tools and equipment, and protect all employees from injury. Prepare and deliver monthly safety-related training to multiple departments. Coordinate and schedule annual medical surveillance exams, annual respirator fit testing, noise, lead and industrial hygiene sampling, and annual emergency evacuation drills. Investigate on-site accidents and collaborate with leadership on possible causes of the incident. Assist with preparing OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program's annual report, uphold the standards required for recertification. Maintain documentation of the Company's safety procedures, accidents, tailgate meetings, and other related administrative requirements and events. Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace. Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety and health excellence. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred (ideally in a safety and health or science-related area) or HS Diploma/GED (equivalent) Minimum 2 years Occupational Health and Safety experience in a Power Plant or related industry; experience to include knowledge of operations and maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing/power plant environment. Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926, VPP or related state [HIOSH] safety and health regulations in an Industrial or related field. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. Knowledge and applicable experience of life critical safety standards, experience with behavior-based safety, hazard identification, leading indicators, and/or other safety KPI's. Previous experience with fire response, confined space rescue, administering First Aid/CPR/AED/Certification preferred. Shift: Monday through Friday, daytime. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a non-routine bases, if needed, to support facility operations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces. Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator and work in various weather conditions. What Reworld Offers You: This is an exempt position, and the expected salary range is: $89,321.00 - $111,728.50. This is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location.
