About Role and You What's a Business Athlete? You're at the start of your career. You graduated from a great college. You took a role in consulting, finance or tech. You've built some great quantitative skills as well as some softer skills supporting and leading high impact projects. You see yourself as an entrepreneur - someday you want to lead your own company. To that end, you're insatiable in your curiosity - you're a big reader, you believe in the power of growing your network, you want to learn from the best. You like to peek around corners and ask - What if? What if this existed? What if I did that? This is good, but how can I make it so much better? But you're not all drive and competition. You have empathy and a deep sense of self that pushes you forward to do great things -- not just for the drive of it and not just to win, but to do good and great things for the world. Huge bonus if people ever use the term 'sparky' when describing you. You've been called exceptional, unusual, highly creative, enigmatic. This is who you are. As a business athlete, you'll work alongside our small team to develop new ventures and to validate these new ventures in the market. Then you'll help us to decide on which business ideas we want to bet on and dive deep. You'll dig into the market opportunity, draw up a business case, draft an Amazon style 6-pager. And once your business gets funded you'll act like a founder for that business as we take it to market and drive scale. You'll wear hats of product manager, business analyst, business development, market research. And if you put your finger on an idea that you find particularly exciting and you prove yourself to the team, maybe you will even run that business as founder.
I know who you are because I've worked with a number of people like you over the last 15 years. And like you I responded to an ad very similar to this when I moved to California many years ago. It changed my life. It's where I got into tech. It's from that experience I founded my first company and where I forged some of the most important relationships of my life.
