GA: Clinical Practice - The department will assign you to various tasks that will require you to provide professional service to MU students, clients of a MU Clinic, or other individuals in need of professional services provided by the office.
Job Description Summary The Violence Prevention and Response Program (VPRP) is dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment by leading comprehensive and collaborative prevention initiatives, fostering a culture of community responsibility, and offering advocacy and support services to students affected by sexual or interpersonal violence.
VPRP is housed within The Wellness Center (2w16A, MSC), which includes our program, Wellness Programs, Collegiate. We are looking for a student interested in assisting the Coordinator for Violence Prevention and Response in planning, hosting, and facilitating on-campus events and managing all social media platforms.
This education-focused role entails working collaboratively with the Women's & Gender Center and Wellness Center. The student intern should be comfortable developing and facilitating in-person and virtual educational programming and should enjoy working in a student-focused team environment. This is a paid position of $11 per hour. Students are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities of the Student Advocacy Graduate Assistant: Assist in staffing the reception desk, greeting students, answering the phone, and maintaining the filing system.Assisting with triaging students' needs and connecting them with needed resources.Assisting in providing presentations and activities.Assisting in managing and maintaining the social media pages.All other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications: Eligible applicants must be enrolled as full-time degree-seeking students at Marshall University.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and respect for others' privacy.Strong written and verbal communication and outstanding interpersonal skills.Excellent decision-making and time-management skills.Strong ability to work with and contribute to a team environment.Experience using Microsoft Office programs and social media management platforms.Preferred Qualifications: Students seeking degrees in Public Relations, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Communication Studies, Sociology, and other related fields are preferred.Applicants with previous public speaking, presentation experience, or advocacy training will be given priority.Department: Violence Prevention & Response Prog - MU3021
