Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services.
We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy.
Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The HR Training Specialist will report to the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) and collaborate with various departments, including Human Resources and Programs, to develop, implement, and manage training programs aimed at enhancing staff skills and performance.
A key component of the role is partnering with our vicarious trauma consultant to expand vicarious trauma resources and ensuring all staff are equipped to handle client-related incidents.
The HR Training Specialist will be responsible for tracking and maintaining staff training records, providing regular reports to supervisors, and assisting the CPCO in identifying training needs and help programs manage their training budget.


RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and Implement Training Programs: Collaborate with HR and programs to create and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum that aligns with organizational goals.
Design a training approach that equips staff with the necessary skills to effectively respond to client incidents, ensuring preparedness in client situations.
Organize and manage required annual training programs, including but not limited to Sexual Harassment Prevention, ensuring timely completion, compliance with state and federal regulations, and accurate tracking of employee participation.
Design a training plan to ensure staff members who provide internal trainings are trained in best practices for adult learning and training delivery.
Meet with department heads regularly to assess and evaluate the training curriculum and any emerging training needs.
Develop tools for evaluating training objectives that can be administered when trainings are offered.
Collaborate with the DEIB officer to ensure DEIB lens is incorporated in all training curriculum.
Collaborate with programs to understand the training requirements of their funders and state mandates and help ensure programs can meet those external standards through the agency's comprehensive training curriculum.
Support general HR responsibilities as needed.
Expand Vicarious Trauma Resources: Partner with our external consultant to develop and implement resources and programs aimed at helping staff cope with vicarious trauma.
Ensure these resources are accessible and integrated into the overall staff wellness and support system.
Training Administration and Tracking: Track all staff training across the organization, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.
Provide detailed training reports to supervisors, helping them monitor staff development and compliance with mandatory trainings.
Assist in creating a centralized training record system to ensure easy access and retrieval of data for reporting and compliance.
Support the CPCO with Training Recommendations: Assist the CPCO in identifying and recommending relevant training programs based on organizational needs and trends.
Provide input on the training budget and assist programs in its management, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current on best practices in training and development, particularly in trauma-informed care, staff resilience, and DEIB issues.
Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in training and development, preferably within non-profit or human services organizations.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and experience working with programs related to vicarious trauma.
Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to track multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively deliver training to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training tracking tools.
Experience in collaborating with consultants and external partners to enhance training offerings.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
Ability to analyze training data and generate comprehensive reports.
Familiarity with organizational development and performance management.
Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
