Who You Are
You are very hands-on, familiar with hand tools, and eager to learn new skills as an Engineering Technician on the Equipment Design & Development team.
You will be working on new process equipment builds, installations, and retrofits to help all of Sila.
You will enable safe and reliable use of Sila's equipment by documenting work thoroughly and communicating the status to affected groups.
You are flexible and able to switch tasks based on changing priorities.
Ideal candidates are certified in industrial machine repair or are interested in becoming certified as a future objective.
Responsibilities and Duties Build new equipment: fabricate and assemble new R&D and production tools.
Projects include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and support process gas supply systems.
Hazardous gas cylinder changes: Follow detailed procedures for safe connection and disconnection of hazardous, toxic, flammable, and/or pyrophoric gasses.
Support team culture and discipline for gas and general safety Commissioning/Decommissioning: own or support commission/decommission activities (mechanical, electrical, controls) on process equipment, and supporting equipment Manufacturing Support: Respond to trouble calls; this includes process tools, facilities, line 1 equipment, battery equipment, and safety issues.
Training and communication: Train on all SILA equipment, reach out to the equipment team for answers to questions and request training as needed.
Continuous improvement: propose and implement new or improved systems and tools .
Identify and execute upgrades to facility infrastructure to support tools and bring new capabilities online.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements Ability to work carefully with delicate parts and large tools Consistent and reliable task completion Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, vacuum equipment, process piping, and process gas supply systems.
Knowledge of testing tools (ex, DMV, helium leak detector, and hydro tester) Conscientious, curious, and deliberate approach to problem-solving Consistent and clear communication across multiple teams/shifts A.S degree, technical or vocational Familiarity with machine shop equipment Physical Demands and Working Conditions Able to lift up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts Able to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time Reach low shelves or items on the floor Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection when required Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and safety shoes
Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
The starting base pay for this role is between $39/hr and $52/hr at the time of posting.
The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
Base pay is only one part of Sila's competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity.
The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
This role may also be eligible for overtime.
