Alton Memorial Hospital is a full-service acute-care hospital with 158 beds and over 392 physicians. They offer a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including surgery, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, therapy, and 24-hour emergency and ambulance services.
Alton Memorial is a training site for Family Medicine residents through SIU School of Medicine and is a member of BJC Healthcare, one of the nation's largest nonprofit health care organizations.

Alton Memorial Hospitalists are medical physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients.
Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose: Ensures optimal care and promotes safety of patients admitted to assigned service in cooperation with the private attending staff and nursing staff.
Responsibilities: Manages the medical care of assigned patients.Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the health care team to ensure excellent clinical outcomes.Performs and documents histories and physicals in the patient's medical record as required by hospital by-laws.Supervises and instructs medical students and residents assigned to service.Minimum Requirements Education: Doctorate in Medicine
