About this opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Support Engineer to join our Preemptive Services team. The ideal candidate will have at least a 2 or 4 year degree who is eager, self-motivated, excited about IT Infrastructure with a background in managing and maintaining Linux-based systems, preferably in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and RHEL. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of these environments. This role involves troubleshooting, optimizing system performance, and collaborating to support and enhance our infrastructure.
This position has a subordinate role that involves supporting our Customer Interaction Center "CIC", receiving calls and other forms of requests. The responsibilities include requesting additional data, opening support tickets, and routing those tickets to the appropriate support team. This will involve interacting with Ericsson customers, other CIC agents, and tier 2 support. Additional training for this sub role will be provided but requires the candidate have a strong communication ability.
What you will do:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and associated software.
Monitor system performance and availability, making adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
Apply system updates, patches, and upgrades to maintain system security and functionality.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine tasks and processes (e.g., shell scripting, Ansible, Python)
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
Triage CFIUS cases and route accordingly using confidential systems.
The skills you bring:
Education: A 2 to 4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Proficiency with Linux distributions (e.g., SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Red Hat).
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Ansible, Python)
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Capable of adapting & responding to change
Excellent communication skills
