Job Summary: The role of the Sales Manager, SLACK Journals, is to conceptualize and implement strategies to maximize journals revenue.
This is a forward-facing position requiring a strong work ethic, creativity, and a can-do spirit.
The job includes but is not restricted to the following items:
Responsibility for maintaining and growing subscription revenue; Working with existing partners to increase licensing revenue, and finding new partners and new approaches to licensing journal content; Developing new journal products and packages that will appeal to the market and have a positive impact on revenue; Increasing ex-US revenue via existing agents and the forging of new relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and maximize subscription and single article content purchases through journals.healio.com, library and institutional sales, and managing our network of subscription agents and content licensing partners around the world. Manage licensing agreements for content syndication and aggregation, including bulk, group, and individual licenses; Determine and obtain approvals from the Wyanoke Group CSO and CEO for product pricing, including individual and institutional subscription rates and licensing fees; Work closely with the Marketing Manager, SLACK Journals to develop creative assets and sales materials as necessary, both direct to audience and institutional; Promote and manage SLACK Journals brand and reputation to the institutional and library market; Work closely with the Senior VP, SLACK Inc. to promote our Healio Journal Host platform to potential new clients and participate in the approval process; Be comfortable within SLACK's digital publishing environment, including the ability to work within various software platforms and databases, and understanding how they interact and communicate with each other; Coordinate and work closely with the SLACK VP Editorial and Director of Electronic Publishing & Production to affect the smooth and efficient operations of SLACK Journals; Sell publication subscriptions to new and existing institutional customers; Upsell current institutional customers to generate additional subscriptions as well as purchases of our perpetual access and backlist file products; Prospect for new business through competitive analysis, phone, email and face-to-face sales meetings; Maintain and grow existing business through extensive market research, practiced sales skills, timely and effective follow up; Travel to association meetings/institutions to meet with existing and prospective clients; Visit and cultivate relationships with libraries that will inform business goals and decisions; Build relationships with subagents for maximum benefit; Supervise and work closely with customer service to manage customer issues and oversee customers' timely access to publications; All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Senior VP, SLACK, Inc. Minimum Qualifications: College degree in Marketing, Publishing or Communications. Excellent writing ability and communication skills. 5+ years publishing experience, preferably in Journal Sales Preferred: Familiarity with Atypon Literatum journal hosting platform The annual base salary for this position is $60,000 to $75,000.
