Journeyman Electrician Department: GMR EC Salary: TB Reporting Manager: Master Electrician or Foreman FLSA: NON-EXEMPT General Description: This is a full-time, non-exempt position at GMR's headquarters in Heath, TX.
The position falls under the GMR EC and reports to the Master Electrician or Foreman.
This is a position with opportunities to advance as the company grows.
This position is primarily responsible for efficiently executing electrical work.
This may include some managing of subordinate electricians, performing project estimates, working with customers, scheduling work, coordinating efforts with other contractors, the care, maintenance, and safe use of tools/equipment, performing electrical installation and repairs, and monitoring of work to ensure safe work practices are being utilized.
Specific Duties: The installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in the commercial construction markets at job sites of various sizes and in various locations.
This includes diagnosing or trouble shooting existing electrical systems.
Determining customer needs and providing solutions that meet or exceed those needs.
Performing onsite estimates and producing proposals for service work and small installations.
Occasionally working with management to collect the necessary information required for performing bids and building proposals.
Working with sub-contractors on job sites to ensure the efficient completion of work.
Occasionally working with management to obtain permits and other regulatory documents in order to execute work on time and within budget.
o Identifying all applicable safety rules and regulations prior to beginning each workday.
o Responsible for reading, understanding, following, communicating, and complying with safety rules, processes, and procedures at all stages of work and for all job site employees.
o The enforcement of rules/protocols for the safe operation of all tools and equipment and the occasional training of other employees in the safe operation of same.
o Regular safety inspections of tools before use.
o Assist in investigation and reporting of any accidents or safety incidents involving job site employees.
With assistance, reading construction plans and/or scope of work documents to determine the correct orderly approach for completing the work as specified in a safe and efficient manner.
Assisting in the communicating of plans and work schedules to interested parties in such a manner that will minimize risks and maximize efficiency.
Executing work in a manner that will accommodate the needs of a larger job site work schedule when necessary.
Assisting in the managing, training, coaching, and evaluating of other journeyman electricians, apprentice electricians, electrician helpers, and other job site employees as needed and/or when requested.
The inspection of work at each stage of execution and upon completion to ensure the work is completed in a safe and proper manner and that it is in compliance with all building and safety codes, and other regulations.
The promotion of excellent customer relations through professional interaction and communication with the customer and all other entities working on the job site.
Promoting and implementing a safe and orderly work environment for all employees Assisting with the onboarding, training, evaluating, and scheduling of employees when requested.
Assuring that subordinate job site employees are properly trained or instructed in performance of duties to which assigned.
Providing direction and assistance during emergencies related to customer care and jobsite incidents.
Assisting with the care, inspection, maintenance, and certification/calibration (as needed) of all job-related tools and equipment.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
3 years of commercial electrical experience.
Must possess a strong work ethic and a belief that safety practices are a primary responsibility of all employees.
Good written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.
Sound organizational and time management skills, along with careful attention to detail The ability to communicate and interact in a professional manner with customers and coworkers.
Knowledgeable concerning the use of Adobe Acrobat, Nitro PDF Software, and CAD or a CAD viewer.
A working knowledge of and the ability to research appropriate health and safety codes.
A working knowledge of and the ability to research appropriate both state and city ordinances and regulations.
Willing to travel out of town and/or out of state as required by project.
Must possess the necessary customer service skills to maintain positive and professional relationships with customers during job site interactions.
