Lead Mechanic

The shop supervisor is responsible:
Plan, organize and direct work assigned to
mechanic personnel
Keep district in compliance with district,
state and federal laws
Work with transportation coordinator regarding
district schedules
Developing vendor contacts
Overseeing the procurement of supplies and
equipment
Evaluate financial budgets
Review requests for vehicle repairs
Identifying and correcting safety concerns
Hiring and training of mechanic personnel
Developing schedules for personnel
Determine priority needs of the district
regarding mechanic related services
Maintain all records as related to mechanic
service
Participate in special projects as assigned
Regional travel required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/Or Competencies Required To Successfully Perform The Work:
Knowledge of required documentation mandated by
district, state and federal requirements
Knowledge of manufactures, maintenance
requirements and warrant procedures
Knowledge of OSHA regulations
Knowledge of school district procurement
procedures
Ability to supervise a growing mechanic staff
Excellent skills in written and verbal
communication
Participate in year vehicle inspections
Ability to schedule and administer fleet
maintenance and ability to troubleshoot
Maintains records on all district vehicles
Hands on mechanic as necessary
Ability to be detailed oriented
Ability to complete reports in a timely fashion
Prepare facilities for inspections and
participate
Respond to district emergences
Ability to lift objects weighing 75 pounds
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required For Entry Into Position:
Five years experience with vehicle maintenance
At least two years experience in supervisory
role
Terms of Employment: 12 months
