About The RoleYou'll work closely with our leadership team to help guide our technology and product decisions for our core back end services platform. We're a small group that values clear communication, transparency, and collaboration. We drive progress by small iterations and reflecting on how we can best work together.We're a Chicago-based company looking for candidates willing to come into our downtown office 2-3 days a week. If you're not Chicago-based, we can offer relocation as well!What You'll DoDrive decisions for greenfield projects that will drive the business for the next 3-5 yearsDesign and build our internal-facing API's, asynchronous back end processing, and third-party integrations using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and AWSFacilitate technical conversations with other engineers and help steer decisions in the right directionOffer constructive and respectful feedback via code reviewsAssist other engineers in resolving or removing blockers they might encounterResearch and promote design patterns and practices that fit our technical challengesWrite automated unit and integration tests as well as build tools to assist in testing various aspects of our platformBuild in business and technical metrics alongside the features themselves to further us as a data-driven organizationWork with our devops team to ensure our CI/CD pipeline built with CircleCI, Jenkins, and AWS tooling fits our growing needs.What We Look ForExperience developing, releasing, and maintaining production-quality software using Ruby on Rails.Expertise in building and consuming APIsStrong knowledge of database design and writing SQL statementsAbility to troubleshoot production issues in unfamiliar codeExperience scoping large projects into small iterations for releaseClear and efficient communication skillsMentorship skills and the ability to give well-crafted constructive feedback#INDTN3
