Lecturer In Scenic Design

SUNY BROCKPORT Department of Theatre and Music Studies is accepting applications for a full-time lecturer in Scene Design.
Design and paint up to two department productions per semester, four per year.Carry a 4/4 course load; with one course release for each design assignment.Courses may include Scene Design, Intro to Design, other design-related courses, Theatre core courses.Supervise and advise students; assist in preparation for conference attendance, internships, oversee practicum students.Two theatres: 400-seat proscenium and 99-seat black box.Service to the department, university, community.Commitment to diversity and inclusion and serving the Brockport community.Requirements: MFA in Scenic Design or related degree from accredited college or university.Three years minimum teaching and designing experience.Command of current design software, including but not limited to Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop.Knowledge of materials and methods of scenic construction, rigging and shifting, properties and scene painting.Excellent communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with artists and technicians in a variety of professional and academic settings.Ability to assess the technical execution and operation of the scenic elements of the production.
