The Legal Support Senior Group Manager is a senior level, non-attorney role, responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team. This role requires a pragmatic, proactive professional with thorough understanding of the Citi Legal Team. Management responsibility of a team, including management of people and planning. The overall objective of this role is to provide support to the Legal Team.
The RRO Program Office supports the identification of regulatory changes and maintenance of the Financial Regulations Management Inventory. Role will lead a team focused on assessing the control environment, including designing and implementing effective and efficient controls and identifying opportunities for semi or fully automated controls. Role will also design and implement processes to identify thematic issues across RRO and recommend solutions and enhancements. Knowledge and understanding of MCA preferred.
Responsibilities:
Manages and develops a diverse team by providing guidance, evaluating employee performance and supporting personnel-related matters
Participates in strategic planning and development and contributes to business objectives, applying institutional knowledge of industry, as well as knowledge of laws, rules and regulations
Partners with business/functional line management in recommending, developing and executing business initiatives within permissible statutory and regulatory frameworks
Executes strategies and business plans, policies and procedures set forth by the function head, understanding the firms risk appetite and direction
Directs programs and projects where tactical decisions and recommendations for technical approaches arenecessary
Collaborates with global partners, key stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure consistency in resolutions of complicated situations or to formulate an approach or strategy
Liaise with other control and functional business in support of projects andinitiatives
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
15+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services; 8-10 years of managerial experience
Exhibits confidence and agility in challengingtimes
Proven ability to manage complex documentation with organization anddetail
Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior Leadership
Expert knowledge of legal customs andpractices
Knowledge and understanding of the financial servicesindustry
Education:
Bachelors/University degree, Master's degreepreferred
