Job Description: Client is looking for a Machine Builder to join our team based out of our Wixom, MI office and shop. Identify upcoming roadblocks and provide forward planning to meet overall schedule requirements. Primarily responsible for the mechanical build of automation cells, robotics cells, tooling, fixtures, or other machines that are assigned. Read, interpret and follow assembly drawings to determine assembly component parts and proper build sequence. Assemble all aspects of a machine or multi-systems from drawings and/or verbal instructions. Test assembled parts and perform fit and function tests. Work with the team to perform the final assembly of large production systems. Work with the team as well as project managers, customers, designers, leads and programmers to solve technical problems in order to provide the customer with a complete and functional system. Works with the team for teardown and installation of equipment. May act as lead on projects and instruct the work of other builders. Coordination of daily build activities with manufacturing personnel including contractors. Track and communicate on-site technical issues with Engineering and Project Management to resolve and close open issues. Participate in regular manufacturing meetings Report schedule and budget status at manufacturing line side meetings Responsibilities: This role may manage some Shipping/Receiving tasks Logistics: Generate request for special materials Mechanical/Electrical tear down & Complete Teardown Checklist Support machine component packaging and labeling Support machine loading on truck. Move excess material from job build to carrier Scrap unneeded /low value items Clean and return carried to shipping/receiving Build See jobs through build, qualification and runoff Sign out build books (drawings). Line up other Machine Builders on build books Report % complete status to Operations Team when requested Skills/Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of automotive, integration, machine tool experience as a Machine Builder Experience as a lead is preferred Hands-on experience with assembly/machining product lines including full production lines/systems (ideally automotive) Previous experience building robotic cells is highly preferred (FANUC, Kuka, ABB) Training with: General Safety, ISO/Quality standards, Lockout/Tagout, MIOSHO, etc. Hard Skills: Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints. Experience reading electrical blueprints is also helpful. Strong mechanical skills Awareness of basic machine controls and interfaces Ability to review and update project files Microsoft Office Thorough understanding of internal processes Soft Skills: Must have excellent planning skills Troubleshoot and identify solutions to roadblocks or issues with a project or build Manage time effectively Lead build team on larger projects as needed Communicate effectively with all team members including build team, production, shipping/receiving, engineering, and operations Adhere to site safety, quality, and environmental policies with internal and external personnel Education: 2 year degree or trade school training preferred but will take overall experience into account.
