Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance• Perform preventive maintenance• Perform complex repairs with minimal (if any) support• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems• Perform remote triage to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns• Perform facility maintenance duties• Instruct and advise other technicians on repair procedures and diagnostics• Coach/mentor other technicians• Advise shop management and other technicians on repairs• Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred• Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred• All other certifications as required by location• Ability to perform all T3 tasks• Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills• Effective interpersonal communication skills• Basic computer skills• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds• Must be available to work shift work/weekends and on call duty• Prefer ASE Certification• Must have minimum tool requirement• Must road test vehicles as necessary• Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire• Pass a Ryder Drug Test• Pass a DOT physical• Pass a Ryder road test• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check• SBTIII trained within 180 days• Complete all OEM on-line diagnostic scan tool software courses• Complete Instructor led OEM courses• Must be able to access and use internal and external maintenance documents• Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines
Key Skills Needed
• Mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines• Routine preventative maintenance• Diagnostics and repairs including AC and electrical systems• Major engine repairs, diesel after treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs
