POSITION SUMMARY
The Medication Technician Lead for the Courtyard is responsible for the monitoring of the medication program and to oversee all activity in the medicationroom. Train all Med-Techs with ongoing pharmacy communication and support the Resident Care Coordinator with system updates and policy changes.Provideahighlevelofcustomer servicetobothresidents andteammembers.Oversee residents’ self-medication andassistthe ResidentServices DirectororDirector of Nursingintrainingnewmedicationassistantsandprovidesmentoring andshadowing. Support the caregiving staff as needed with care needs and transfers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

MedicationManagement:
Performmedicationset-upandassistresidentsontheMedicationProgramwiththeself- administration of their medications.
Observe andpracticetheSeven"Rights" toMedication Administrationwhenassistingaresidentwith self-administration of medication.
NotifyResidentServicesDirectorifconcernsregardingaresident'sabilitytoself-managemedications.
Assureresidentsreceivetheirmedicationsasprescribedandinatimelymanner.
Order and receive medications in a timely manner, notifying family members/responsibleparties to pickupmedications to assure availability forresidents' useand prevent running out of medications.
Notify Resident Services Director or Resident Nurse Consultant (where applicable) when medications have not been delivered tothe community in a timely manner.
Count narcotics per procedure andsign the count sheet. Immediately report any discrepancies to the Resident Services Director or the medication assistant leavingtheshift.
Transcribe new medication orders correctly and order new medication in a timely manner from pharmacy per procedure.

Keepmedicationfilesandresidentrecordscurrentanduptodate.
AssistinschedulingMedicationAssistantshiftswhenrequested.
File information in the appropriate section of Resident Care file once issue is complete, (i.e. medication has been ordered and received, Resident Services Director has reviewed home health agency report and orders, etc.)

ResidentCare:
Assistwithupdatingcare/serviceplansandmonthlycarelogs.
Ensure all operational, regulatory, and medicationadministration policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
Assistresidentsinmakingdoctor'sappointmentsandtravelarrangementstoandfromappointments.
Takeresidentvitalsigns,CapillaryBloodGlucose(CBG)andallRNdelegateddutiesin accordance with WA regulations.
Perform apartmentvisitsandapartmentchecksona regularbasis.
Report any significant incidents onthe appropriate forms andto theResident Services Director or Executive Director.
Assist residents with ADL tasks including housekeeping tasks, making beds, serving meals, assisting with·personal laundry, assisting with showers, assisting with toileting, dressing, undressing,oral care, hair care, transfers and ambulation, showers and any otherneeds addressed on the resident service plan.
Communicate changes inresidents’ conditions accurately and efficiently to RN/LPN, RSD, emergency personnel, physician and resident family/responsible party.
Perform services asa NOC shift Medication Assistant. Services may include:
Laundry and housekeeping of common areas.
Settingup of diningroom.
Providingresidents’ activities ofdailyliving.
Filing, preparingdocumentationforthe following shift, etc.

Resident Safety:
Assistinkeepingthe environmentsafeandcleanforallresidents.
Keepallmedicationsintheirappropriatestoragearea.
Keepmedicationcupboard,carts,anddoorsalways locked,whennotinuse.
Washhandsperpolicyandfollowproperinfectioncontrolprocedures.
Observe residents forsafety, changes incondition, potential abusive situations, etc.,andreport any changes of condition or other pertinent information to supervisor.
Follow safety protocols and procedures, making sure safety is the primary concern for all residents and team members.
CarryandknowhowtouseSARA system phones. Always carry the phone communication device.
Respondtoemergencysignal/call system.
Keepthe medicationroomcleanandwellorganized,freeofanypersonalbelongings,foodand drink not directly used for resident medication assistance.
Becontactpersonforemergencypersonnelduringresidentemergency.
Additional duties as assigned.

Service Standards:
Assist and support the care staff while on shift.
Answer questions, mentor and teach in accordance with Senior Living service standards and Christian discipleship.
Oversee and train Med-Techs in ongoing pharmacy communication and processes.
Support the Resident Care Coordinator with system updates and policy changes.
Assist with one-on-ones, providing coaching opportunities regarding med-tech procedures.
Answer incoming phone calls in a professional manner and answer all questions.
Provide a warm, home-like environment by showing unconditional compassion and respect. and making sure safety is the primary concern within the community.
Provide regular, ongoing professional communicationwith the pharmacy, physicians, families, residents, homehealthagencies, assisted living,memory care andmanagementstaff.
Uphold all Washington state rules and regulations, always maintaining compliance.
Be available for state surveyors as requested by the Executive Director or Director of Nursing.

Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
When the Supervisor is not scheduled on shift, Medication Tech will act as Manager on Duty.

EDUCATION
High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
A minimum of three years experience in a med-tech related role.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
WA state NAC license in good standing.
CPR/First Aid card.
Nurse Delegation Core and Mental Health/Dementia Certification.

SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE

EXPERIENCE
Previous experience as a NAC in LTC or other related health care setting.
