Description
The Media & Communications Arts department is looking for Student Assistants dedicated to maintaining a consistently positive and productive environment in the MCA Lab.
Student Assistants serve as "open Lab" monitors to ensure Lab security.
Accurately check-in/-out Lab equipment (to students and faculty within the department).
Provide peer assistance in basic Adobe Creative Cloud programs and basic software/hardware use.
Student Assistants are responsible for processing small hardware loans and general cleaning (Lab and MCA classrooms and stages).
Other duties as assigned by the Lab Supervisor.
Requirements Ability to work at least one (1) night per week per semester (5:00pm - 10:00pm)Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of cameras, lighting and audio equipment.Demonstrated proficiency in basic software programs (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) to include editing software and the Creative Cloud.Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to competently handle telephone and walk-in traffic.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
The completion of a daily job checklist is required.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and conduct tours of the Lab for prospective students and their families.Familiarity with Mac systems.Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff.Demonstrated ability to adhere to scheduled work hours (Student Assistants are expected to arrive on time and remain for the duration of their assigned shifts).
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference is given to students who are majoring in Digital Cinema and Film-making, or Communications.
Those who possess basic computer problem resolution skills and experience.
Familiarity with Mac systems is preferred.
Other digital imaging software experience desirable.
