Medical Stop-Loss Underwriter Location Hybrid work in Grand Rapids, MI : We are a health plan benefit administrator seeking to hire individuals that have desire to grow with us. We are looking for an experienced Medical Stop-Loss Underwriter to help us profitably grow our stop-loss block, win new business, and achieve our retention goals through the develop of strategic stop-loss recommendations for our broker partners and self-funded clients. The ideal candidate will approach problems and tasks in unconventional and innovative ways. In this role, the Medical Stop-Loss Underwriter will demonstrate a high level of accuracy, responsiveness, reliability, and professionalism in every interaction in a fast-paced client service environment. The Medical Stop-Loss Underwriter is also expected to demonstrate a commitment to collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure superior service and product offerings, as well as improvements responsive to client feedback and industry trends.
ResponsibilitiesRequirements: An understanding of stop loss market dynamics, risk management strategies, and a strong desire to stay ahead of emerging risks in the market Strong consulting and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with brokers, clients, and service vendors Confidence and a developed skillset in the areas of math, communication, and negotiation Strong time management skills and self-discipline to effectively manage a large case load volume during peak production cycles Experience with David Young System (preferred) Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all operational areas, management, and staff to further the company's mission Effective listening, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strategic prioritization of multiple deliverables. Attention to detail and the ability to present complex material in an understandable manner. Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to travel as needed. Bachelor's degree in a business related major preferred. Three plus years of progressive stop-loss underwriting experience in the Third-Party Administrator environment or seven years in health benefit administration.
ASR follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or person work preferences. There are times when working in the office will be required based on the specific task or project.
