The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring new English language arts (ELA) teachers. This individual will ensure our students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. Teachers must work to build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students.

\n Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in education or ELA-related field (i.e. English, Creative Writing, European Literature, etc.)Previous experience working with middle school and high school students Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values Preferred QualificationsValid Michigan teaching certificate with a secondary ELA endorsement (i.e. BQ or BX preferred but possible to accept other subject specific endorsements depending on exact role)Previous teaching experience in an urban settingTraining in CRPBIS and other related instructional methodologies Job ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate passion for and expertise of reading, writing, speech and other secondary ELA contentProvide world-class instruction in ELA to middle and high school studentsUse data to guide and effectively differentiate instructionLearn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessionsBuild relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environmentOther duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
\n$46,942 - $95,000 a year
We honor years of experience in equivalent roles, and we honor additional degrees beyond a BA/BS.
