Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions.
Essential Responsibilities: Performs MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities on patients of all ages.
Adjusts scanning parameters for different patient body habitus and selects and modifies technical factors to enhance images.
Identifies gross pathology in the human body and adjusts scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
Starts and removes IV lines for contrast studies per established departmental policy and procedure.
Effectively explains the danger associated with implants and devices to anyone entering the MR system room.
Reviews each examination for technical accuracy and presents completed examination to radiologist.
Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
Maintains daily patient MRI log documenting correctly and accurately patient information.
Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the physician's orders.
Performs proper computer skills and shows a working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges, and profiles.
Basic Qualifications: Minimum one (1) year of experience as an MRI technologist, OR registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required.
Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program required.
Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists Certificate.
Basic Life Support.
Radiologic Technologist Certification.
Additional Requirements: Venipuncture competency check off required within 3 months of hire.
Ability to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
Requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization.
Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members and coworkers.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
