NOC Technician Category: Information Technology Employment Type: Contract To Hire Reference: BH-377323 The NOC Technician plays a crucial role in delivering customer support for network services.
This position involves monitoring network elements, performance, and facilities, and requires effective coordination with Field Operations and Technical Specialists to manage and resolve issues promptly.
Strong communication skills, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in managing multiple systems and tickets are essential for success in this role.
Principal Accountabilities: Collaborate with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs), Interexchange Carriers (IXCs), vendors, internal teams, and customers to troubleshoot network impairments and outages effectively.
Manage and document trouble tickets comprehensively.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to DWDM, MPLS, and SONET network equipment.
Interpret and analyze Clear Channel (CLR) and Drop Channel (DLR) reports.
Execute remote fault resolution using various Network Management Systems (NMS).
Monitor network performance following maintenance and changes in the network or data centers.
Work closely with Operations and Engineering teams to facilitate swift circuit activation.
Provide network support to Data Center technicians.
Update customers with ticket progress and provide technical support as needed.
Job Requirements: Desired: 1 to 3 years of experience in a NOC environment within the telecommunications industry.
Familiarity with trouble ticketing systems.
Strong communication skills.
Understanding of fiber optic fundamentals.
Ability to multi-task and maintain composure under pressure.
Experience with circuit testing procedures and test equipment.
Knowledge of Nokia, ADVA, Ekinops, and MRV equipment.
Required: 1 to 3 years of experience in telecommunications or equivalent technical training.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong customer service skills.
Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies.
Understanding of DWDM and MPLS fundamentals.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal guidance, focusing on urgency for customer-impacting issues.
This role requires an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering exceptional customer support while managing technical challenges efficiently.
