The Office Engineer will spend their day supporting resident engineering and inspection projects in NY creating daily reports, checking inspector's daily reports and contractor's invoices, preparing pay estimates, maintaining as-built drawings, reviewing submittals, and requests for information from contractors.
You will prepare meeting agendas and record minutes of meetings, assist with agency audits, updates agency websites/files with progress information, and help with the project closeout.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes, but not limited to, the following:
Coordinates preparation and review of progress project documents, such as revised engineering drawings and schedules to ensure agency contract requirements are met. Reviews contract to determine documentation required for each phase of the project, applying knowledge of engineering. Prepares authorizations to proceed, change orders, and extra work orders. Prepares different project reports and maintains different progress logs. Monitors status of the project to ensure required documentation is submitted according to schedule. Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements. Submits project documentation to management for approval and transmits approved documents to the agency or to a general contractor.
Ensures work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT, NYCDEP, or NYSDOT specifications.
Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisions.
Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
To Be Successful Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or NICET III A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with NYSDOT or other DOT experience. Engineer-In-Training Certification is preferred. NICET III Certification preferred. Current OSHA 30 Training Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Strong verbal and accurate writing communication skills Interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills with attention to details Teamwork skills Self-starter, pro-active, task follow-through and works independently with minimum supervision. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Experience in working with blueprints and working with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
