Position Summary
Multiple temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant positions available in Student Orientation and Transitions.
Start Date
Positions available on or after November 4, 2024 and ending on or before May 31, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
Job Description/Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Serve as a positive role model.
Welcome new student and family members; assist them during orientation sessions.
Establish and maintain direct contact with incoming students and provide information regarding preparing for their first year at Stan State and any necessary onboarding tasks, New Student Orientation information, and serve as a resource for getting involved and connected to resources on campus.
Follow up, track, and communicate with incoming students and assist them from when they accept their enrollment through the start of classes.
Act as a resource person to incoming students and families; develop good rapport with new students and their families.
Work with faculty and staff members, other Orientation Leaders and members of Stanislaus State administration to facilitate the success of all success of all aspects of the New Student Orientation Program.
Facilitate icebreakers and other engaging group activities.
Facilitate small group discussions related to academic and community expectations, student life issues, and answer participant questions.
Assist in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the New Student Orientation Program.
Become knowledgeable through training on various aspects of the University.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Student Orientation and Transitions staff.
Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates good interpersonal and group communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of team members.
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
Salary Range
$17.00 per hour.
