This role works within a team of security professionals who help to provide a safe and secure environment for the museum's collections, properties, facilities, visitors, and staff while delivering superior customer service.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO Control Center Responsibilities: Monitor and secure physical access controls throughout the Walker campus.
Operate all WAC security systems.
(camera system, access control, fire, and burglar systems, etc.).
Patrol Walker campus and conduct regular security/safety rounds of the facility and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.Work in the Control Center when assignedDistribute staff ID badges, access control cards, and keys.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the building, campus, and staff: evacuation routes, museum, and Sculpture Garden policies, etc.Communicate with the Registration and Program Services department or as needed when art issues arise.Complete daily security reports and document incident information in written reports.
Assess and audit physical security and operational issues.Review incident footage, and save video when instructed.Maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality.
Provide security escorts for maintenance or other activities throughout campus.
Collaborate with Dock Master to monitor incoming shipments (i.e., art, mail, deliveries, etc.)
Keep the dock area secure and safe while ensure limited traffic on the dock during art deliveries.Continuously monitors the galleries and museum to ensure the security & safety of our collection/Walker assets; communicates concerns as directed.Establishes a clear understanding of the security requirements/needs of each exhibition.Reports art damage to the Registration Department and documents appropriately. Visitor/Employee Experience: Check visitors, vendors, and contractors in and out of the Walker.
Places the highest priority on customer service, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for staff and visitors.Closely monitors visitor/staff activity/behavior, appropriately elevating any issues or needs.Helps create an inclusive and welcoming environment by embracing the diversity of others in everyday interactions.
Supports the Frontline Strategic Plan, working in collaboration with Visitor Services, EPP, Facility Rental, and Operations to accomplish the goals set forth.Explains museum guidelines to visitors in a positive and understanding way.
WHAT WE NEED IN YOU
Minimum Requirements
2+ years' related experience required.Professional demeanor and a strong customer service orientation are essential.Strong communication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse visitors/groupsExcellent time management and decision-making skills.
Ability to present a professional and courteous appearance to visitors and staff; exercise tact and diplomacy at all times and remain calm under pressure.Ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative, strong work ethic, and the highest level of integrity and professionalismAbility to work collaboratively and cohesively with other Operations leadership and staff.Knowledge of computers, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), preferred.Willing to become and maintain TSA certificationCPR / First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid CertificationThis position will work a rotating schedule as follows:Sunday 11:45 PM - 8:15 AMMonday 11:45 PM - 8:15 AMTuesday 11:45 PM - 8:15 AMWednesday11:45 PM - 8:15 AMThursday11:45 PM - 8:15 AM PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to stand for long periods of time. This position is considered full-time, non-exempt.
As a non-exempt position, it is eligible for overtime pay.
The minimum compensation for this role is $21.50 / hour.
The Walker offers a wide range of benefits for both part-time and full-time employees.
