Overview
The primary role of this position is to deliver innovative packaging solutions based on marketing requirements, consumer insights, and AFNA's objectives of improving cost competitiveness and sustainability.
This position will also support existing businesses through packaging revisions, cost savings projects, and packaging harmonization projects.
The Packaging Engineer must bring expert level technical skills and be able to manage multiple packaging projects on schedule.

Responsibilities
Deliver innovative packaging solutions of flexible films, paperboard, and corrugate based on marketing requirements and consumer insights
Support cost savings projects and packaging harmonization projects.
Manage all aspects of specification development, BOM creation, and document retention for packaging materials
Manage deadlines and artwork through development and approval
Conduct appropriate distribution testing to validate designs
Manage multiple projects on schedule
Create and manage timelines for each project through each project stage
Lead packaging supplier qualifications
Participate in equipment manufacturing factory acceptance tests
Participate in equipment qualifications, plant testing, and start-of-production at manufacturing plants
Manage quality issue resolution from manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, customers, and consumers by driving rapid resolution through analytical investigations
Mentor junior engineers…giving guidance and project assistance to grow the team
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering from a recognized Packaging Program
Certified Packaging Professional (CPP)
7-10 years of experience in Packaging Engineering role, preferably within CPG company
Expert understanding of packaging materials…flexible films, paperboard, and corrugate
Extensive knowledge of Packaging Engineering processes, such as cGMP packaging design and product life cycle
Proficient in CAPE and Adobe Illustrator
Expert understanding of packaging equipment and manufacturing
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Attention to detail and sense of urgency to facilitate organized, accurate, and effective project launches
Excellent communication and presentation skills…ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and our suppliers
Deep understanding of the role of packaging on the customer and consumer
Understanding financial implications of packaging on P&L, Margin, and COGS
Ideal, but not required…leadership of junior engineers or packaging staff members
Pay Range $100,000 - $125,000
