Nature and Scope:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Parents' Morning/Night Out Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and attentive environment for program participants and achieving the goals of the program through planning and implementation of activities which provide guidance, leadership, education and enjoyment for children served by the each program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Preferred candidates should be 18yrs old; 16-17 yrs old candidates will only be considered with extensive experience working with children, volunteer service at the Y, and/or service through our teen program.
2.
Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.
3.
Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc...
4.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
5.
Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
6.
MUST PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST AND BACKGROUND CHECK.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of indoor/sport settings.
Must have the ability to climb, walk, run, stoop, squat or kneel.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry equipment to appropriate destinations or affect the carrying of such equipment.
Ability to use senses which enable safe supervision of children including seeing and/or hearing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Supervises a group of children ages 2-14.
2.
Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3.
Must show caring, patience, and a willingness to participate in activities with the children.
4.
Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
5.
Attends staff meetings and trainings.
6.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
7.
Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
8.
Adhere to Metro Atlanta YMCA policies and procedures.
9.
Other duties as assigned.
