DescriptionThe nurse performs a variety of tasks to assist the Surgeons in providing patient care, including escorting patients to exam rooms, assisting with surgeries, checking vital signs, and coordinating ongoing care. Under the medical direction of the clinic physicians and the general administrative direction of the clinic manager:
Job Responsibilities, clinical: Intake for surgical patients and return patientsPrepare patients for physical exam/surgeryPreparing patients for Mohs layers and reconstructive surgeryAssisting surgeons with Mohs surgery and reconstructive surgeryAssists with procedures and demonstrates current knowledge and skill in nursing practice to ensure safe and effective care for the patient population.Responsible for patient education including handing out educational pamphlets, giving verbal instructions, explaining and recommending products, discussing medications and wound care and answering patient questionsProviding post-op care to return patientsSurgical instrument processingPrepare for the day's activities by checking schedules and preparing rooms for patient use (i.e., clean, organize and stock rooms with necessary equipment and supplies)Working Conditions: Must be able to work under time pressures in a busy clinic/office environmentMust be able to react quickly and immediately respond to emergenciesMust be able to lift, push/pull and carry 15lbsMust be able to reach for objects by extending arms and able to stay in one position for periods of timeMust maintain attention to detail over extended period of timeWork Schedule: 20-24 hours per weekFollow the surgeon between Mohs surgical appointments and follow-up appointmentsTypical working days could be Monday-Friday with normal business hours.
