The Part-Time Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving merchandise, equipment, and supplies in the warehouse as well as shipping small packages and letters via couriers.
Frequent deliveries to campus end-users for merchandise, equipment and supplies will be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
Acts as point of contact for receiving merchandise from freight trucks and individual deliveriesReports to supervisor if received goods are damaged or a shortage exists.Serves as point of contact for pickup of auction items.Responsible for shipment of all small packages such as: online book store orders, overnight documents.
Shipping includes packing, tracking and freight carrier pickup of items.Assists the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor with campus inventory.Maintains a receiving log; provides accounts payable with receiving logs for further processing of invoices.Records all incoming and outgoing freight.Maintains a file (e-file) of all purchase orders, packing lists, and freight bills.Other related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position requires much physical effort including a considerable amount of walking, lifting, pushing, pulling and other physical efforts.
Much of the work is outside requiring the Part-Time Shipping and Receiving Clerk to work during all types of weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to safely move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
Frequently lifts merchandise or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to maintain storage/warehouse area.
Must be able to drive a golf cart.
Minimum Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or equivalentValid driver license required for use of golf cart KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Good understanding of the freight process (shipping and receiving).Experience with data processing, inventory and supply systems Basic to intermediate computer skills Must be able to do accurate data entry Strong organization skills Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet department needs Preferences One (1) year of relevant shipping and receiving experienceCertified forklift operator
