The Payroll Tax Consultant is responsible for maintaining and developing Payroll Tax business operations across the US and various states. This position manages tax filings and timely tax payment processes for payroll clients, ensures deadlines are met, and client satisfaction is achieved through our service delivery. The Payroll Tax Consultant obtains and manages Fourth's PEO state and federal licenses to comply with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
\n The Role. . .Identify process and/or operating issues and conduct in depth investigation to provide insight for resolution and present findings to leadership. Seek areas of opportunity to improve existing processes, functionality and workflow to maximize technologies and reduce manual processes. Create accurate and timely payroll tax filings while maintaining tax-related records for Fourth and our clients. Formulate federal and state regulatory departmental responses and complete tasks related to tax and compliance reporting. Review client additions and terminations by state and maintain PEO compliance by taking necessary steps to inform states agencies. Collaborate with external auditors to create Agreed Upon Procedures for IRS and states requiring quarterly CPA oversight reporting. Submit annual audited financials to states as required to maintain PEO compliance. Submit CPEO (IRS) and PEO (states) license renewals annually or bi-annually. Collaborate with a registered agent to maintain Secretary of State annual reports in each state where the PEO is registered. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for a multi-state corporation, ensuring timely payments and filings. Perform daily reconciliations from the payroll system to the tax payment system. Analyze daily payroll records for accuracy and ensure reported payroll data reconciles with state and federal withholding returns. Analyze reconciliation, balancing, and multi-state payroll system reports to 941's, W-2s, W2C's, and state filings Resolve discrepancies or amended tax returns with regulatory agencies as required by law. The Ideal Candidate. . .3 to 7 years of relevant experience in payroll tax filing. Working knowledge of federal tax and state income deductions and regulations. Knowledge of technical and professional principles. ADP and MasterTax experienceExperience in a PEO Tax Department Experience working in a Payroll PEO, ASO, or Managed Services Department Demonstrated ability implementing scalable processes Prism knowledge is a plus.Bachelor's degree in accounting/business administration and 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience if requisite skills are demonstrated.
