Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for providing pharmacy services associated with the preparation and distribution of medications as well as maintaining patient and pharmacy records for statistical data in accordance with the requirements set forth by the federal, state and local laws and the polices of San José Clinic under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist on Duty.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Assists Pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions in compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
2.
Assists in ordering all drugs and biological; store them according to requirements
3.
Removes all outdated drugs from pharmacy shelves
4.
Assists in maintaining and managing the RX Assist Program under the supervision of the Pharmacy Coordinator by screening for eligibility, completion of applications, distribution of medications, storage and inventory of sample medications and providing physicians with information necessary for ordering medications
5.
Assists in organizing and maintaining pharmacy schedule for pharmacists, technicians, and volunteers
6.
Trains newer technicians, students, and interns
7.
Assists in ensuring pharmacy audits are completed in a timely manner and in accordance to the pharmacy policies and procedures
8.
Attends various department meetings as required
9.
Delivers medical/pharmacy care in accordance with the Catholic Moral and Ethical Directives
10.
Follows all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance
11.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information/records at all times
12.
Maintains established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
13.
Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic cultural diversity objectives
14.
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: High school Diploma or equivalent and current Certified Pharmacy Technician or Trainee license required Three years' experience as a pharmacy technician in a Class A setting required Demonstrates excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking and effective time management Capable of handling and completing multiple tasks or projects with multiple deadlines Capable of dealing professionally, courteously and efficiently with public and all levels of the organization Able to operate computers, copiers, and fax machines Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, practice management and pharmacy management system software applications and electronic medical records Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast paced environments Bilingual in English/Spanish required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop for (long) periods of time Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally/ frequently Ability to respond to emergency/crisis situations.
