Job Summary:
Under the supervision of officials responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of plant maintenance and operation work, perform the duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of Plumber, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fitting and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating water, gas and training systems of the plant.
* Repairs and maintains piping systems and plumbing fixtures.
* Inspects all connections and other parts of system for leaks.
* Replaces defective pipe by cutting, bending, threading and assembling pipe.
* Solders and caulks leaks and broken pipes.
* Opens clogged drains with plumber's snake or vacuum plunger.
* Replaces
* Repairs or replaces damaged plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers and bathtubs and/or connects them to outlet and inlet pipes by fitting gaskets, couplings, traps and valves, and soldering connections to seal joints where necessary.
* May estimate materials needed and record time and material expended on each work order.
* Will have minor supervisory duties when Mechanic Helper is assigned to assist in the work of the plumber
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Trade or vocational school graduation.
* A plumber's apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Work is medium.
Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls materials and equipment including fitting, pipes and tool boxes.
* Climbs on ladder, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches and crawls to inspect or repair pipes located at ceiling, underground and between walls.
* Depth perception and field of vision needed when using torches and measuring, cutting and threading pipe.
* Work mainly inside.
May stand on and in wet areas to clean clogged lines, leaking lines and fixtures.
* Subject to odors and gases when working with clogged fixtures or pipelines.
$42.37/hr regular rate - $38.13/ hr Probationary rate*
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
