Police Officer, North Newton Police DepartmentThe North Newton Police Department is accepting applications for a community-oriented individual to fill a full-time Police Officer position. The City of North Newton is a small, progressive community with a private, 4-year college. North Newton is located along I-135 and 20 miles north of Wichita. The community enjoys a small-town environment with big city amenities a short drive away.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, the Police Officer performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in the City of North Newton. The officer in this position enforces all federal, state, and local laws in accordance with departmental rules and regulations. Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. This officer will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. The officer will be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and special events as assigned.
Position Requirements: Must be a US Citizen and at least 21 years of age by the application date.Possession of a valid KS driver's license.High school diploma or GED required.Must not have committed, been convicted of, had a conviction expunged for or been placed on diversion by any state or federal agency for a felony crime. No felony or domestic violence convictions, and no other convictions that would violate the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act.
