Position Summary
The Title VI Coordinator and Director, Title VI Programs ("Title VI Coordinator") will provide support to the leader of the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO). The Title VI Coordinator will have primary responsibility for ensuring the University's compliance with Title VI, including through application of the university's nondiscrimination and anti-harassment policies ("NDAH"). These duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting the leader of the OEO in carrying out those duties mandated by Title VI, which provide protections to the NYU community no matter their race, color or national origin, including their shared ancestry or ethnicity and religious identities. The incumbent's scope includes oversight of Title VI Investigations involving students, faculty, staff and administrators.

The Title VI Coordinator will have responsibility for the management of Title VI investigations and oversight of Title VI Programs and training(s) for the NYU Community. They will be responsible for overseeing any reporting requirements for the University to applicable authorities and assist with the University's response to its prevention obligations. The incumbent's duties may include meeting with complainants and respondents; advising them of their rights and resources in accordance with University policy and law; conducting intakes; conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations; providing detailed, unbiased reports on investigations; and/or oversight of the same. Create and participate in trainings to educate the University community on policy, laws and regulations, and reporting obligations.

Qualifications
Required Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
Required Experience: 5+ years professional experience conducting investigations in a higher-education setting or other related field.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving, interviewing, and investigation. Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including skill in writing concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues. Excellent critical thinking skills, including the demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs. Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally across multiple constituencies to resolve complaints in a neutral, sensitive manner. Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations (including Title VI, Title IX, ADA/Section 504, and other civil rights laws).
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Applicable investigatory training and certification, or ability to obtain such certification within 60 days of employment.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $150,000.00 to USD $190,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
