Principal Architect for Quality Engineering and Tooling
We are on the hunt for an experienced Principal Architect who will lead our efforts in architecting a comprehensive framework for all of Aviatrix's quality engineering and tooling. This pivotal role is tasked with the responsibility of shaping the testing strategy, bridging gaps, ensuring our infrastructure components comply with the highest standards of security and compliance all while managing cost. This role reports directly into the VP of Quality of Engineering and Eng Prod.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Framework Definition: Establish a robust quality framework that integrates testing methodologies, standards, and best practices across the organization.Tooling Architecture: Design a cohesive architecture for quality engineering tools.Tool Selection and Integration:Evaluating Tools: Identify, evaluate and select automation and testing tools that align with project requirements and organizational goals.Integration Strategies: Develop strategies for integrating quality tools within CI/CD pipelines and existing development environments.Leadership and Guidance:Visionary Leader: Lead quality engineering initiatives with a clear vision and direction, inspiring teams to embrace quality as a core value.Mentorship: Act as a mentor and coach for QA professionals, helping them grow their skills and capabilities.Quality Metrics and Reporting:Define KPI's: Establish key performance indicators and quality metrics to measure testing effectiveness, defect rates, and overall software quality.Collaboration and Communication:Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration between engineering productivity, development and lab teams to provide the testing framework, tooling, and infrastructure needed for engineering excellence.Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate the importance of quality engineering and tooling to Engineering Leadership, gaining their buy-in and support.Identifying Risks: Evaluate potential risks related to quality and tooling implementation, creating strategies to mitigate them.Compliance and Standards: Ensure infrastructure components meet security and compliance requirements.Process Optimization: Regularly review and optimize quality processes to eliminate bottlenecks and improve efficiency.Feedback Loops: Create a feedback loop to identify and propose improvements in infrastructure, tooling, process, and resource allocation.Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.15+ years of experience in software architecture, development, and testing in the Network, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure domains.5 years' experience in technical leadership driving innovation to improve the product's security, quality, ease of operations, reliability, performance, and functionality.Extensive experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality, and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).Strong expertise in Testing Frameworks (End-to-End Testing, Performance Testing, Security Testing, API Testing, and Test Automation).Subject matter expert in architecting Cloud Infrastructure involving designing and organizing the various cloud computing components to create a scalable, secure, and efficient environment.Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Expert knowledge in Networking - Routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, IS-IS).Technical depth and understanding of various tools and testing methodologies (manual, automated, performance, security, etc.).Familiarity with CI/CD Deployment practices and tools (e.g., Github).Understanding the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to align testing processes for Security Practices, Compliance Knowledge, Tools and Technologies and how they impact testing and infrastructure.Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence and receive stakeholder buy-in.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.Strong leadership mindset and ability to mentor junior engineers.Excellent communication and presentation skills.US Pay Range The US annual base salary range for this full-time position is $215,000-$250,000 + benefits + 401(k) match + equity. The pay range is determined by the role, work location, job-related skills, level, experience, and relevant education. [Certain roles are eligible to earn sales commission, depending on the terms of the applicable plan.] The range displayed is the minimum and maximum target base salary and is applicable only for new hires for the listed position located in the US. Your total compensation package will be based on job-related knowledge, education, certifications, and location, per our aligned ranges.
