The PositionRoche Diagnostics is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Principal Scientist, Analytics & Separation Specialist in Oligonucleotide Research (Scientist) to support the development of advanced molecular diagnostics technologies. This role involves hands-on expertise in preparative chromatography and analytical techniques throughout the product development lifecycle, from early research to on-market support. As part of the Chemistry Team, you will have access to cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art instrumentation, enabling you to contribute meaningfully to advancements in molecular diagnostics. Your work will directly impact global health, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the field of diagnostics.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou have demonstrated experience purifying, analyzing, and characterizing complex oligonucleotides and related analogs.You have the ability to develop innovative analytical methods for reagents and assay performance, applicable in R&D and Operations; supporting scale-up and launch efforts.You have the ability to design and execute advanced troubleshooting experiments in coordination with collaborators; demonstrated experience developing creative assays to understand and detect system defects.You have the ability to support documentation transfer, specifically of prototype methods and documentation from research to development and manufacturing.You will serve as a subject matter expert and provide expertise across R&D departments (oligo synthesis & purification, assay development) and operations.This position is based on-site in Pleasanton, CA. Relocation benefits are not offered for this role. Who You Are (Requirements)You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (preferred) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Medical Chemistry (or related field) with 7+ years of industry experience; or a Ph.D. with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Medical Chemistry (or related field).You have comprehensive experience and problem-solving skills in UPLC/HPLC, ion pair chromatography, ion exchange, mass spectrometry, absorption, and fluorescence spectroscopy.You are proficient in oligonucleotide purification and characterization.You have demonstrated experience in DNA, RNA, non-natural modifications, and dye-modifications; you demonstrated experience in designing and optimizing analytical assays.You have demonstrated communication and organizational skills, including technical writing skills for detailed documentation/report preparation; excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration.Preferred QualificationsYou have proficiency organizing and maintaining a research laboratory.You have experience with automated DNA synthesis, phosphoramidite chemistry, and click-chemistry.You have working knowledge of PCR and/or other amplification technologies.The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pleasanton, CA is $93,800 - $202,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
