SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Process Engineer performs a variety of complex and non-routine engineering tasks
independently. This includes designing new products, enhancing manufacturing
methods, initiating design improvements, and actively engaging with customers to
optimize manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background
in process engineering, an understanding of various coatings, and experience in a
manufacturing environment.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop new manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.Assist in managing engineering changes related to process updates.Establish and implement standards, documentation, and procedures for new and existing products.Continuously improve manufacturing methods and implement process/design changes.Investigate and resolve manufacturing process issues as they arise.Support the quality team in addressing quality concerns and customer issues.Serve as a liaison between manufacturing and subcontracted jobs/customers.Develop, analyze, and optimize coating/painting processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.Manage process trials and experiments to test new materials, methods, and equipment for coating processes.Ensure operational safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols.Execute process activities including planning, investigations, surveys, and equipment handling.Train process technicians, mold setters, and equipment operators on new or updated processes.Assist in planning, developing, and quoting new products about profitability and feasibility.Supervise and lead process technicians.Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or equivalent experience.Expertise in coating application techniques (e.g., spray coating, powdercoating, electrostatic painting, dip coating).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in LeanManufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.Three to four years of relevant work experience.Injection molding experience.Ability to assemble and disassemble a mold machine is mandatory.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Mechanical reasoning skills related to equipment understanding.Preferably certified in DOE and six sigma methodologies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The job requires visual inspection of parts, manual dexterity in
operating machines, and occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds. Physical activities include
reaching, stooping, kneeling, and occasional climbing. The work environment involves
exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate to loud noise levels, and occasionally
fumes or airborne particles. Safety precautions are essential due to potential hazards.
