Job Summary:
The Product Development Manager - Bath, Beauty and Personal Care (BBPC) is responsible for all phases of new product development and product reformulation processes from concept to consumer in the Skincare and Personal Care Categories. This position will manage the entire lifecycle of the existing product portfolio of 200-300 SKUs. The PD Manager will work with the onboarded vendor roster while identifying new manufacturers and suppliers to potentially transition current products and create new products and product lines. Product design is to be consistent with market trends and business strategy while ensuring product quality and efficacy. This role will manage multiple, complex projects and drive outcomes and optimal results.
Job Expectations:
Work with strategic partners to identify novel ingredients, products, and formats for the personal care and skincare category to ensure product quality and efficacy
Continuously grow manufacturer base and capabilities
Evaluate and manage the full lifecycle of the existing product portfolio of 200-300 SKUs
Ensure formulations are high quality, cost-effective, efficacious, and meet brand guidelines
Build awareness and communicate emerging trends in the marketplace regarding the demand for key ingredients as it relates to the organization
Create products and product lines for platform growth in key consumer areas
Work with marketing and purchasing to generate new product ideas and sourcing options
Understand domestic industry regulations (FDA, OTC, 21CFR, FPLA) and global regulations that could impact our products. Understand manufacturing practices and quality management requirements
Prepare product formula and packaging specifications for quotations and negotiate pricing and MOQs
Responsible for approving regulatory documentation requested and prepared by the Product Development Associate and advising of any unique document requests outside of the standard regulatory package, i.e. Organic Certifications.
Prepare and write all label COPY; provide romance COPY, while ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and brand alignment
Collaborate in internal communication with cross-functional partners as it relates to pricing, timelines, formula evaluation, copy and claims, artwork, and regulatory
Stay cognizant of potential sourcing supply issues to prevent production complications. Provide solutions to maintain a consistent supply and to avoid market price fluctuations where possible
Build and manage project timelines to track key project milestones for review with the Product Development Director
Troubleshoot and improve efficiencies through proactive recommendations for workflow

Equipment Knowledge:
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
Experience Requirements:
Generally requires a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of consumer product development with a minimum of three (3) years of direct management experience in the skincare & personal care industry. Must understand manufacturing, packaging, copywriting, and consumer trends/behavior in beauty & personal care. E-commerce experience is highly preferred.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business, or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
