About the RoleAs a Product Owner in our Tech Pacific Domain, enable and inspire multi-disciplinary team(s) and/or cross functional resources ('Squad') to pursue their mission, by guiding them on 'what' work should be completed. The Product Owner constantly prioritises tasks and squad(s) backlog(s) with the customer at the heart of their decision-making. The Product Owner also ensures that the work is strategically aligned to the portfolio mission and engages with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies. Whilst this role is not usually a people manager (there will be some instances where this occurs), it is a key leadership role, galvanising the squad(s) around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.

"T-shaped individual" – Possess a breadth of knowledge in many fields, but also have depth in at least one area of expertiseVoice of the customer – Must continually engage with the customer and stakeholders to ensure squad is working on the right things and represents what is valuable to the customerStoryteller – Go beyond the mechanics of chopping up a user story into the product backlog and tells the story that nicely ties together the why, the customer need and the visionMobiliser – Ability to rally and mobilize informal groups of people around focused tasks and storiesKnowledge broker – Enable collaboration and empower the Squad by finding the right people for them to talk toConflict resolver – Have the courage and the capability to engage when things get difficult and collaborate/mediate to effectively resolve conflictChange Enabler - Passionate ambassador for our new way of working and cultureRole Model – Truly embody ANZ's purpose and valuesWhat will you bring?Create, prioritise, sequence, and maintain the Product Backlog.Assist with the elaboration of Epics, Themes and Features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint.Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every Release and Sprint and ensure the Squad remains aligned to these.Engage customers and stakeholders to ensure the Squad is building the right product and course corrects if needed.Understand financial benefits of work and monitor where appropriate.Actively participate in daily standups, Sprint Planning, Showcases and Retrospective ceremonies.Use metrics to ensure feedback from customers is captured as well as continually reviews product progress.Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.Co-develop the squad mission with the Portfolio Lead and refine the mission where required.Break down the work, prioritise and sequence.Unify the squad to support the mission and its delivery.Re-prioritise or re-sequence any work that is not complete or 'Done'.Detailed DescriptionShare the progress of the squad with the wider organisation.Remove roadblocks and manage alignment and interdependencies with other product owners or teams/squads. Manage risk.A Product Owner typically uses a variety of tools to manage their responsibilities effectively. These tools can be categorized based on different aspects of their role.Monitors customer metrics, and continuously building knowledge of customer needs and challenges.Develops insights and seeks endorsement on direction.Leads change where appropriate, and identifies opportunities.Contributes to directions and identifies opportunities for improvements.Adapts own behaviours to changing circumstances and constructively provides input to change projects.Comprehensive understanding of a range of problem-solving techniques and building own toolkit.Builds on domain knowledge base.Strong awareness of key banking and finance industry trends & market research data.Draw insights from research materials and develop customer led initiatives.Developing influence and advocacy.
