Summary:
Working under limited supervision, the Production Lead assigns and explains daily tasks; monitors work in progress; ensures compliance with policies and procedures; trains and assists Team members.
The Production Lead will work with Management, Programming, MFE, Inspection, and Scheduling departments to facilitate workflow, problem solve and improve processes.
Essential Duties: Provide guidance, direction and priorities to employees, including maintaining quality standards in accordance with our QMS procedures.
Coordinate the assignment of work issued to the production team based on experience and capabilities, while ensuring quality and on-time deliveries.
Facilitate cross training when needed.
Proactively interact, lead, and communicate professionally with team members daily.
Ensure work assignments follow the plans defined by the MRP system and manufacturing planners/schedulers.
Initiate corrections and recommend improvements to existing processes and methodologies with a constant focus on continuous improvement.
Ensure production staff are fully trained on database requirements and following standard procedures (i.e.
clocking, sign-offs, scrap transactions, part quantities, NCMRs) Perform Setups and Production Run when not engaged in lead indirect activities Prioritize and assign any trouble shooting activities required to the appropriate resource.
Provide performance evaluation feedback for each employee.
Verify accuracy of all documentation and take appropriate action when discrepancies are found.
Ensure work areas are kept clean and organized.
Participates in training, safety, and quality programs.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates leadership skills and Shields core values.
Demonstrated knowledge of production processes, and quality control.
Functional understanding of warehouse inventory such as control, lot traceability, etc.
Professional and proficient communication with internal customers.
Ability to motivate, develop, and direct employees.
Understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
This is an ITAR sensitive position.
