Production Manager (Dump Box & Trailer Mfg) Location Clackamas, OR : Production Manager (Dump Box & Trailer Mfg) GENERAL : Administer the activities of the production organization to meet manufacturing targets and objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Participate as a member of the CBM Management team that provides leadership, direction to develop and implement plans to meet group targets and objectives.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Manage employee work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
i. Manage cell assignments in support of scheduling priorities, absenteeism and employee development
ii. Manage employee time and attendance
iii. Coach, develop, discipline, and evaluate production workers in accordance with HR policies and applicable federal and state laws
iv. Initiate and facilitate interview panels, employee discipline, and performance evaluations.
B. Conduct problem identification and resolution.
i. Identify problems using root cause analysis
ii. Facilitate solution of daily production issues
iii. Assign team members to address root causes & establish countermeasures
iv. Develop and maintain lean manufacturing tools
v. Identify and carry out solutions to production problems using DMAIC
C. Provide leadership and ensure effective employee relations within team.
i. Respond to employee needs, production issues, work availability, and other employee issues
ii. Resolve production issues that require assistance from other areas
iii. Model appropriate behavior and lead by example
iv. Foster positive relationships in teams
v. Provide honest, un-biased, and constructive feedback
vi. Assist in addressing employee questions & concerns
vii. Communicate professionally & effectively
D. Manage safety activities in work area and throughout shop.
i. Monitor adherence to safety protocols by employees
ii. Address safety issues as they occur
iii. Assist in training employees
iv. Assist employees with minor first aid
v. Fill out incident reports
vi. Own and manage a 5s and safe environment for employees & visitors
vii. Identify and implement solutions to potential safety problems
E. Implement continuous improvement projects and activities.
i. Support implementation of new equipment, procedures & processes
ii. Lead in CI teams & improvement projects
iii. Mentor employees in CI and problem-solving skills
iv. Implement CI suggestions
v. Initiate CI projects
vi. Own KPI measures and progress
F. Coordinate material flow in work area.
i. Forecast supply chain issues upstream and downstream to help linearize line flow.
ii. Ensure inventory tracking systems are followed and identify areas of improvement
iii. Implement solutions to problems with meeting delivery targets on micro and macro scale
G. Coordinate maintenance activities in work area.
i. Submit maintenance requests and set A, B & C priorities
ii. Support & monitor TPM activities
iii. Assist maintenance personnel with equipment rebuild schedule to minimize the impact on production
H. Coordinate quality control efforts in work area.
i. Assist employees with quality issues according to quality systems
ii. Escalate quality issues to quality department and follow-through with corrective measures
iii. Ensure standard work procedures are followed
I. Determine development needs of employees and coordinate training.
i. Train new & existing employees and supervisors on processes and standard work
ii. Develop long term training plans for labor flexibility
iii. Work with direct reports to create individual development plans
iv. Mentor and develop Supervisor I & II
J. Maintain current documentation in work area.
i. Initiate the development of standard work instructions
ii. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and changes are implemented
iii. Identify documents that need changes and updates
K. Achieve and report on productivity goals in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
i. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
ii. Work with engineering to identify & implement computer systems used to collect cost, quality & delivery information
L. Maintains budget and cost management in work area.
i. Monitor the use of consumables to achieve cost reduction while maintaining efficient and safe work environment
ii. Monitor labor costs and supply expenses
iii. Administer wages
iv. Participate in cost reduction initiatives
v. Participate in long term area planning and budgeting
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: Education: High School Diploma or GED required;
Associates Degree in related field, and progress toward a BS/BA.
Experience: Minimum 5 years manufacturing background in a high-volume repetitive manufacturing organization. Two years successful supervisory experience required.

· Ability to read blueprints.
· Understanding of Quality systems including advanced SPC concepts.

· Effectively problem solves, prioritize, and follow through on assignments and projects.
